Papad Cone Chaat — a Chaat recipe .
Prepare the Papad Cones:
1. Shape the Papads:
Roast or fry the papads one at a time. If using oil, brush a little on the papad before roasting on an open flame or a hot tawa until crispy. While still warm and pliable, carefully shape each papad into a cone. Hold it for a few seconds until it holds its shape. Alternatively, you can use a cone mold to shape the papad.
2. Set Aside to Cool:
Once shaped, allow the cones to cool completely. They will become crisp as they cool and hold their shape better.
Prepare the Chaat Filling:
3. Mix the Ingredients:
In a bowl, combine the chopped cucumber, tomatoes, and boiled chickpeas or moong sprouts. Add chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to evenly coat the veggies with the spices.
4. Add the Chutneys:
Add green chutney and tamarind chutney to the mixture and toss gently. Adjust the quantity of chutneys based on your taste preference.
Assemble the Papad Cone Chaat:
5. Fill the Cones:
Carefully spoon the chaat filling into each papad cone, making sure not to overfill them.
6. Top with Sev:
Sprinkle a generous amount of sev on top of the filled papad cones.
7. Garnish:
Garnish each cone with pomegranate seeds and fresh coriander leaves for a burst of color and flavor.
Serve the Papad Cone Chaat immediately to keep the papad cones crisp. They make a perfect party appetizer or snack, adding a fun twist to traditional chaat.
