Chiba Dhokla — a Gujrati Farsan recipe (ready in Approx. 18-20 hours, serves 4-5).
heeba Dhokla, also known as Panoli, is a traditional Gujarati steamed delicacy made from a lentil-based batter. It is prepared using the traditional Cheeba steaming method, where the batter is spread on the greased back side of a vessel lid and cooked gently with steam.
Wash the green moong dal in sufficient water for 4–6 hours.
Drain the soaked dal completely. Grind it into a smooth, slightly coarse batter, adding only enough water to achieve the required consistency. Add green chilli paste, hing and salt Mix thoroughly. Allow the batter to rest for 5 - 6 hours according to your kitchen's traditional Cheeba process.
ake a large, deep vessel (vessel/veccal) and fill it with sufficient water. Bring the water to a proper boil so that continuous steam is generated. Take the lid of the vessel and grease the inner/back side of the lid properly with oil. Spread the prepared Cheeba dhokla batter evenly over the greased back side of the lid. Carefully place the lid over the vessel, with the batter-facing side positioned above the boiling water so that the batter cooks with the steam. Cover and allow the batter to steam until the Cheeba dhokla is fully cooked and set. Carefully remove the lid once cooked, allow the dhokla to cool slightly, and gently remove it from the lid. Sprinkal Red chilli poder and gee on the top. Cut into pieces and serve with Pure Jain chutney.
