The biggest motto of Jainism is to strictly prohibit any kind of violence through our words, actions, thoughts, or food habits. It is believed that there are 5 types of living organisms; a household is forbidden to kill or destroy intentionally all, except the lowest life (1-sense living organisms, such as vegetables, herbs, cereals, etc.).
As per Jainism, vegetables that grow beneath the ground are strictly prohibited. It is difficult for the Jain community to find a pure Jain restaurant around the globe and adhere to their religious values. Hence, many Jains avoid eating outside or refrain from restaurants on their big religious days (TITHI).
